Acquired Direct from the Artist
After working for nearly twenty years as an engineer I decided to follow my passion to become an artist, something I always wanted to do from childhood. After studying at Hereford College of Arts on a foundation I gained a degree in ceramics at Cardiff University, which I completed in 2001.
The first five years in my studio I produced my work on the potters wheel, but I found myself wanting to study the human form and produce work that had a story to tell. My influences are varied and many, such as classical sculpture, Rodin, contemporary sculptor Anthony Gormley, architecture, traditional ceramics and abstract paintings. I seem to be drawn to traditional art forms and rework them to create something new. I will embrace all making techniques and ways of decorating to achieve the desired effects and I am always looking for something new. All this is mixed with autobiographical and social issues to create different series of work.
My work is in many international collections from Cayman Islands to Holland, United States to Australia by such esteemed people as Sir Roy Strong, Sir Derek Jacobi and John Allen FRAC.
